JUST Launches Cultural Competition 2024

The Cultural Competition 2024 at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) commenced on Wednesday, featuring a variety of categories such as music, dance, public speaking, team and solo performances, recitation, storytelling, and debate. The central gallery of JUST hosted the inauguration, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid.

In his inaugural address, Professor Dr. Md. Abdul Majid emphasized the role of co-curricular activities in nurturing creativity and leadership among students. He stated, “Through club activities, students can express their talents, enhance their skills, and take steps forward. Alongside self-development, they will fulfill their social responsibilities. JUST aspires to become a research-driven university where political partisanship has no place. Instead, leadership qualities will be developed through these initiatives, addressing the nation's leadership gaps.”

The event was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Mir Mosharraf Hossain, Director of the Student Counseling and Guidance Office. Among the dignitaries present were:

  • Professor Dr. Md. Minhaj Uddin Monir (Petroleum and Mining Engineering)
  • Associate Professor Dr. Md. Saiduzzaman (Nutrition and Food Technology)
  • Assistant Directors Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam, Kishore Kumar Sarkar, and Dr. Md. Sabbir Hossain
  • Faculty members Anushree Biswas, Md. Ashraful Islam, Kulsum Akter (Nursing and Health Sciences), and Md. Mahmudur Rahman Siam (English).

The opening program was conducted by Naushin Jahan Zerin, General Secretary of the JUST Debate Club.

Organized by the Student Counseling and Guidance Office, the competition is being supported by members of JUST Journalists Association, BNCC, JUST Career Club, and JUST Blood Bank. Students from various departments actively participated in the vibrant and inclusive event, reflecting JUST’s commitment to fostering holistic education and leadership.
